STAFF INTERVIEW

PATRICE, IT Developer!

WHAT’S YOUR MAIN TASK?

« I turn a requirement into a concrete solution, using the necessary tables and data extractions to enable the user to analyse the data in a more accessible way. »

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH EUROTAB? IN WHICH POSITIONS?

« I started working for Eurotab 17 years ago as a line operator. I also took part in the launch of production at our Turkish subsidiary, Eurotab Avrasya, where I spent 3 weeks on site, twice to start up and train on the first production lines.

After 9 years in this job, I joined the IT department as Data Manager and then Developer.

I've always liked numbers and data, I graduated with a scientific baccalaureate.  »

WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL DAY LIKE?

« As I work "on demand", no two days are alike!

My days are shaped by the tickets that come in, whether for a specific analysis need, creating an article in a warehouse, an incident or a more technical problem.

These tickets are managed by our ticketing tool and then redistributed within the IT department.  They are handled according to urgency and importance by the most appropriate person. So, on a day-to-day basis, I manage the day's tickets.

At the same time, I'm involved in more substantial projects, calling for more thought to meet the specifications required by the customer. For example, we've set up automatic article creation from Excel files, which reduces the time needed to create an article from 2 hours to 5 minutes.

I might, for example, be asked to produce a report with certain functionalities and highlight certain data: to put it together, I'd have to think about how to extract the tables and data that make it up, how to retrieve them, and how to make the whole thing accessible to the user based on the initial specifications. »

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU NEED FOR THIS POSITION?

« You need to be calm and able to concentrate, and of course be rigorous and logical. »

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT EUROTAB?

« At Eurotab, I like the fact that we can progress internally, as well as the freedom and possibilities that our jobs offer - nothing is set in stone!  I also enjoy being able to come up with new ideas all the time and knowing that they are listened to and encouraged so that they can be implemented. »

WHAT DRIVES YOU ON A DAILY BASIS?

« I like coming to work because of the atmosphere at Eurotab: we get on well together, we share things, and that's very important to me.  »

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST PRIDE AT WORK?

« I'm proud when projects are successful, that they're going to facilitate processes and save time and efficiency! For instance:  the launch of sales forecasting tools, or the migration of our ERP system to centralise our data.

I was also particularly proud when, in 2013 and 2014, when I was a line operator, I was asked to go to Turkey to train people and help launch the first production lines. »

MORE PERSONALLY: DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES AND/OR ANY SPECIAL INTERESTS?

« Like many people I think, I like to enjoy myself, move around, visit new places and do gardening. In fact, I sometimes treat my colleagues to harvests or homemade syrups, as well as my family and close friends! »
