STAFF INTERVIEW

MARIA, Disinfection Workshop Team Leader!

WHAT’S YOUR MAIN TASK?

« On a day-to-day basis, I lead a team of line operators and powderers to ensure optimum productivity. »

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH EUROTAB? IN WHICH POSITIONS?

« I joined Eurotab in 1999 as a temporary line operator in the disinfection workshop. 2000 was a good year for me, as in January I was offered a permanent contract. At that time, there was a wave of new hirings, so I was involved. Initially, it was a very small team (4 line operators and 1 powder operator).

Then, the disinfection business grew and was organized differently.

From 2010, I was able to take on responsibility for the position of substitute Team Manager, which was the transition to my current position, held since 2018: Team Manager of the Disinfection workshop. A vacancy arose and I was able to apply internally, where I was favorably received.

Today, the team is made up of 4 line operators, 1 powder operator and 1 forklift operator, as well as temporary staff when needed.
I'm multi-skilled, and can also replace forklift operators, as I've got my CACES and I'm SST (First-aid worker) qualified. I also have electrical clearance, so I can handle certain tasks or breakdowns independently, without having to call on a colleague. That's a real plus. »

WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL DAY LIKE?

« We work 3x8 on the disinfection site. When I start my shift, I take over from the outgoing shift, and we talk about current production.

I go round the production lines to see and talk to the line operators, and see if there are any special instructions.
I also check my e-mails to anticipate emergencies and/or schedule changes.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when I'm on the morning shift, we also have AICs (Animation à Intervalle Court), which are short meetings that enable the line drivers and co-drivers to take stock of the reality on the ground and the problems encountered on a daily basis. They enable us to find the root cause of the problem and get the teams involved in the search for a solution.

During the rest of the week, I also take part in meetings concerning improvement projects, production planning and monitoring, and relations with temporary employment agencies for case-by-case staffing requirements for the following week. »

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU NEED FOR THIS POSITION?

« There are many qualities, but I'd say rigor and team spirit! Another aspect that's important to me is safety in the workplace, and I'm always encouraging my team to think about this before taking any action. I'm also versatile, precise and organized. »

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT EUROTAB?

« At Eurotab, I appreciate the helpfulness and responsiveness of my colleagues and the organization as a whole. The fact that the company has retained a family feel also helps a great deal in problem-solving and decision-making. »

WHAT DRIVES YOU ON A DAILY BASIS?

« First of all, I love what I do! I'm motivated by the missions I take on, it's a whole range of things and above all it's about moving forward. »

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST PRIDE AT WORK?

« One of my proudest moments in 2018 was when I was given the responsibility of Team Manager. »

MORE PERSONALLY: DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES AND/OR ANY SPECIAL INTERESTS?

« I'm passionate about manicure, and I've also trained as a nail technician, which I really enjoy doing. I'm very handy, and I'm currently renovating my house. I like to tinker and learn how to do things by training myself. I also play sports indoors.! »
